Our Vision and Strategy
Our vision is to help people say "yes" to God and develop them into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our Mission Statement says, "Barnton Baptist Church seeks to be a worshipping community which makes and multiplies committed disciples of Jesus Christ".
To put it in theological terms, our mission is to honour our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, by carrying out the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
We will accomplish this mission by fulfilling the four purposes of the church: Worship, Witness, Community and Discipleship. We exist to bring people to Christ and membership in His family, develop them to Christlike maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God's name.
Our vision is to see the Gospel spreading through our homegroups and Worship services, and through the individual lives of our members, drawing people into Christ's kingdom, transforming their lives, and sending them into the world to serve in Christ's name.
Barnton Baptist Church will be a refuge - a place where people who are separated from God and one another by sin, can find love, acceptance, hope, guidance, and forgiveness.
Barnton Baptist Church will also be a training and equipping centre, developing believers to spiritual maturity and helping them to discover their God-given gifts for service and ministry, so that they can reach their full potential as followers of Christ.
Our strategy is outlined in the sermon given by Ken McBain on the 2nd November 2008 with the aid of the diagrams provided below. This can be accessed from the Sermon Files section .
